IN MEMORIUM

Our dear Chief Executive Officer died in his Mommy's arms at 3 am on March 22, 2007.

Oliver was a constant reminder that patience and unconditional love make life worth living.

Our CEO Emeritus was his Mom's best friend and constant companion, whether at home or traveling, for the past 11 years.  He was a large, loving part of most of the areas of her life, her best friend since her soul mate -- Oliver's dad -- crossed over, her nightly mile-long "walkies" buddy.  His death broke his Mom's heart.

Oliver is sorely missed, as well, by our Chairman of the Board and his loving friend, Mufasa.

Oliver left his pawprints eternally on our hearts.

With his sight now restored, breathing easily, and his diabetes challenges only a memory, we know Oliver continues to watch the progress of Oliver's Outlook from his Rainbow Bridge.

OLIVER'S  STORY

I was two years old when my dad met me, and it was love at first sight.  However, my best friend Smoky (also a poodle mix living at the same foster home) caught my mom's eye ... something about Smoky reminded her of Sparkie, their little 4-legged doggie love who had died the previous year.  After careful consideration, and my mom observing that the "love-at-first-sight" gleam in my dad's eye wasn't dimming even a little bit, I came home with my mom and dad on September 10, 1996, their wedding anniversary.  That day also became my "birthday," because the best our vet could do was say that I was "about two years old."

On the first evening I was a member of this family my new dad left me and my mom alone -- on their anniversary -- because of something called a "Board Meeting" at Theatre 40, where my dad was the Artistic Director.  Mom wasn't about to cook on her anniversary, so we drove to Larchmont Village, and sat at an outside table at a nice little Italian restaurant.  My mom put a little pad on the bench beside her table so I would be comfortable and very close to her, and ordered a salad.  Almost every person who walked by, after declaring me "darling," "adorable," "cute," or "handsome," then asked to pet me.  I enjoyed the attention, until two young men in suits walked by.  I immediately stood up on my pad and growled loudly, warning them not to come any closer.

My new mom gently scolded me and told me they were nice men, but I was adament; my mom was confused.  She was also still hungry; there had been no time to eat her salad because of the constant attention from my new "fans."  Mom took her salad home and I laid quietly next to her on the couch as she ate.  My dad returned as we were taking a little walk; I showed both of them what a good dog I was as I "did my chores" on the grass in front of my new home.  And I got to snuggle with my mom as we slept that night!

The next morning my dad got up first, took me for a walk and fed me.  And we began walking down the wonderful path of learning about each other and forming a very special bond.  My mom moved around the house a lot, but when my dad wasn't away at auditions or an acting job, he sat in his recliner for long periods of time reading, or watching almost any game on TV that involved an eliptical or round ball.  I became his constant loving recliner companion -- quiet with him as he read, and sometimes adding my own comments to his loud opinions about the games and players.

In November we packed a lot of stuff in one of our cars and drove for 4-1/2 days, staying in a different "home" every night.  My mom and dad got me a bed that hooked over the back of the car's bench seat; I sat up in the little bed and looked around for about five minutes each time we began to drive, then curled up on the soft pad and slept until we stopped at a gas station, where all three of us went to the bathroom!  I learned that long drives came with lots of lovin', on that cross-country trip to Rutgers University where we were delivering the car to their son, Richard.  I learned to love Richard, too, even though he wasn't around very much.  Before we flew home, with me in my new Sherpa carrier under the seat by my mom's feet, we went to the home of two other people who enthusiastically returned my love -- Sherry (my dad's sister) and her husband, John -- for a day they called Thanksgiving.  I loved the happiness and laughter that filled their Virginia home that day -- along with all the wonderful food smells and a few turkey treats!
